Assassin's Creed Reveals Surprising Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that breaks usual predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Revealed
According to the formal release, "An unusual meeting draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The plot presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden sect.
The mission focuses on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Metamorphoses
The preview highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Extra Features
Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana in addition to several artifacts hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Addition
This patch also brings the game's third free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Partnerships
This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that unmistakably nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
