19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He saved 4 initial opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
