Heartbreaking News on Cargo Plane Crash: Fatalities Climbs to 13

The number of lives lost resulting from the transport jet which caught fire and went down has now risen to 13, per official reports.

City Leader's Remarks

While en route to the Teamsters’ memorial service, I received word of a thirteenth victim that lost their life as a result of the aircraft crash,” expressed the city mayor in a social media post. “My heart is with the relatives, associates and colleagues of all who were lost in this recently occurred disaster. We will get through this collectively.”

Casualties Named

A statement from UPS named the pilots aboard the jet as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our sympathies are extended to all staff member who has been touched and everyone in our community community – helping you and ensuring you receive the care and assistance you need is our priority,” the firm’s communication stated.

Inquiry Updates

Government officials announced that the freight aircraft’s port side wing ignited and an engine detached soon after takeoff from the aviation hub, resulting in the plane to crash and explode into a blaze.

The National Transportation Safety Board has said it is probing the aircraft’s maintenance history, which was in the state for maintenance weeks ahead of the crash.

Aviation data revealed the plane was on the runway in that location from 3 September to mid-October.

“We are knowledgeable that this jet was there in the facility,” said an investigator on later, without providing a precise date range. “We will examine each aspect of service that was done, even the Texas period, right up to the time of the flight.”

Retrieval of Vital Evidence

The cockpit voice recorder and information unit were found, and the engine was discovered on the tarmac.

The devices – referred to as flight recorders – were designed to survive collision damage and severe fire from fires, and they looked to be undamaged when located amid the crash debris. Investigators plan on reviewing information from the black boxes.

Jet’s last recorded information indicated an elevation of 475 feet and a velocity of that speed before the accident.

Service Background

Based on FAA records from last month, a fracture on a part inside the fuel container required repairs.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which said it supplies structural repairs for the carrier’s jet and manages a maintenance center in Texas, declined to provide remarks, but expressed it would work closely when relevant authorities contacted it.

Activities Restart

Meanwhile, UPS Worldport services restarted Wednesday night with its express also known as night sort operation, spokesperson the company official confirmed. The three tarmacs at the airport were also reopened.

The sorting center in Louisville is the firm’s largest. The hub engages in excess of 20,000 workers in the locality, handles numerous aircraft daily and sorts over a huge volume of parcels an hour.

Local Reaction

A memorial was held on the night of that date by the regional worker’s group, which supports staff at the Louisville airport, the organization’s biggest air cargo hub.

Teamsters Local 89, which stands for UPS workers, began the vigil with a moment of silence at 5.14pm, the rough moment of the incident previously.

“This incident was so sudden, so unforeseen,” the mayor addressed the group of two hundred. “No one had a chance to say goodbye to any of those who we have lost.”
